Wilma Ailene Locke Gillespie died on Tuesday, May 23, 2006.
She was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Rhea Springs, TN, to Malcolm and Leoma Hickey Locke. She was a member of Reed’s United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Carver High School.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Leoma Hickey Locke; husband, George Lenoir Gillespie; sisters, Alberta Locke, Thelma Preston and Mildred Curry; brother, Alfred Locke; and grandson, Corey Gillespie.
She is survived by children, Marjorie (Walter) Jackson, of Hixson, Jeanette (Tony) Brown, of Dayton, Donnie (Lenny) Gillespie, of Spring City, and Gerald Gillespie, of Cleveland; sisters, Maude Robinson, of Spring City, Estelle Swann, of Rockwood, Loretta (Robert) Wiggs, of Ewing, N.J., Doris Roberts, of Augusta, GA; brother, Malcolm Leon Locke, of Spring City; her grandchildren, Rosalyn Gallaher, of Chattanooga, Robert Gallaher, of Cleveland, Latosha Ray, Shawn, Shavasha and Kellon Gillespie, all of Dayton, Chelcse Morris, of Spring City, James (Chenera) Brown and William Brown, of Nashville, Lenora White and Michael Brian Jackson, of Hampton, VA; 14 great-grandchildren; ger brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ether "Candy" Locke, of Monroe, PA, Eunice Rankin, of Columbus, OH, Cleo (Walter) Jones, of Baltimore, MD, Edna Hickey, Shirley (James) Oggs, William (Kim) Gillespie, of Spring City, Ann Gillespie, of Long Beach, N.J., Booker T. Gillespie, of Nashville, Alvis (Pearlie) Gillespie, of Abilene, TX, Curtis (Francis) Gillespie, of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in Euchee Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Vaughn Funeral Home.
