Hilleary Is Committed To Public Service

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

I very rarely write letters to the editor or commentaries regarding politicians. However, with the upcoming mid-term elections quickly approaching, I find the need to share my thoughts about a good man whom I truly believe is not a politician but a man committed to public service.

Former U.S. Congressman Van Hilleary has the ability, passion, and firmly held beliefs needed to translate our values into common sense bills that will protect America while holding true to the Republican ideal of fiscal responsibility.

He is a protector and defender of traditional American values, and he will fight bills that are unacceptable or dangerous to our American way of life.

By standing committed to firmly held convictions, and by finding common ground with people from all socioeconomic and political backgrounds, Van Hilleary has earned our trust. He is committed to securing our borders, protecting our citizens, and doing what is right for America.

I know Van Hilleary. I have never met anyone more committed to government public service than Van Hilleary. With him, what you see is what you get or who you get rather.

I have respected Van Hilleary since as a college student, I volunteered and campaigned for the guy who just seemed to mean what he said. He is down to earth and he is a natural, genuine leader with the knowledge, experience, and passion to get the job done on behalf of everyday, hardworking Tennesseans.

No other candidate can earn the broad-based trust and support of people from all walks of life like Van Hilleary can. No other candidate values those grassroots everyday people like Van Hilleary does. No other Senator will hold true to his promises and our values like Van Hilleary will.

I encourage voters not to be deceived by slick ads, polls, or rhetoric from those claiming to hold your values or purporting to be fiscally conservative. Check the voting records of the people running for office, talk to people who know them personally, or better yet step up and get to know them yourself.

The United States Congress is lacking in the leadership department on both sides of the aisle. Let’s send a real leader to Washington D.C. I’ll proudly cast my vote for Van Hilleary for U.S. Senate and I encourage others to do the same.

A Good School Takes Involvement
