Stuart James: Flip Flop Adams - And Replies

Sunday, June 18, 2006 - by Stuart F. James

Not too long ago Republicans characterized John Kerry as flip-flop Kerry stating he flip-flopped on the issues. In the District 8 County Commission race we now have Flip-Flop Adams - demonstrating hypocritical changes in his positions on the issues. Flip Flop is constantly changing, changing his mind to suit the direction of the political wind.

On Tuesday, the Chattanooga times Free Press published an article entitled "Opponents Adams, Bailes differ on County Education." In the article, the Times Free Press states, "Mr. Adams, the current commissioner who voted against proposed tax increases during the past two years, said he wouldn't rule out future increases now that Supt. Jesse Register is leaving his post."

Now that Dr. Register is gone, Flip Flop is for a tax increase for schools — this is the most recent example of Mr. Adams’ flip flops as a County Commissioner. Mr. Adams’ flip-flop on taxes demonstrates he does not have a vision for the future — his vision is clouded by political opportunity and personal anger towards individuals. He cannot be objective on the issues facing him as a county commissioner.

Flip Flop now “will not rule out future (tax) increases now that [Jesse Register] is leaving his post.” This flip flop demonstrates he lied when he voted against the tax increase for schools. Flip Flop voted against the tax increase for one reason — Jesse Register - not because of the needs, or lack thereof, of our teachers and students in the classroom. It is clear if Dr. Register was not superintendent, Flip Flop would vote for a property tax increase. Now that Flip Flop’s arch enemy is leaving his post, Flip Flop is willing to vote for a tax increase. Which is it, Flip Flop — tax increase or no tax increase? Which is it, Flip Flop, help students or leave them out in the cold?

Now that “(Jesse Register) is leaving his post” we have “tax and spend” Flip Flop Adams.

Flip Flop will change parties and change his position based upon personal vendettas and a desire to win reelection. Flip Flop is the master of change, change without reason - change without justification.

Flip Flop does not understand the issues facing the schools. He does not understand that the issues are about giving our teachers in the classrooms the tools to teach. We need resources in the class room; we need to bring state dollars back from Nashville into the classrooms in Chattanooga. Instead of grasping the issues and finding solutions, Flip Flop is engaging in personal wars demonstrating an inability to work with others to find compromise and solutions to the issues facing our schools and our county.

There is only one issue Flip Flop will not flip flop on — what he stands for. Flip Flop stands for one thing — Curtis Adams.

Flip Flop needs to spend more time in the kitchen, flipping and flopping pancakes, not flipping and flopping on the issues.

Somehow I just knew that it wouldn't take "The New Stuart James" long to get into the fray. Seems he is now accusing Commissioner Curtis Adams of flip-flopping on the issue of taxes for our schools. He says that the only reason Commissioner Adams voted against last year's tax increase was because of Jesse Register.

I beg to differ. If "The New Stuart" would check his facts, he would see that Commissioner Adams has indeed voted in the past for several tax increases to fund our schools.

"The New Stuart James" really should be spending more time worrying about the flip-floppers in his own party such as John Bailes in District 8 who announces he is running as a Democrat and then renounces his party and declares himself to be an Independent.

Apparently "The New Stuart James" is only trying to divert our attention away from the problems he is having with "The New John Bailes"......or should I say "The New, Independent John Bailes."

Well, it appears I was right in my assessment of Mr. Love. Mr. Love claimed to be a John Bailes supporter in his previous letter criticizing John Bailes. It is obvious this was not the case.

Now Mr. Love proceeds to tell out and out lies about John Bailes. John Bailes has never declared himself an independent. He is a Democrat. He simply doesn't see a need to debate the issues of the national party in a local county commission race.

What we see hear is an attempt to SwiftBoat John Bailes.
