Kenardo Curry Turns Himself In At Jail

Monday, June 26, 2006

Former city Neighborhood Services Director Kenardo Curry on Monday turned himself in at the County Jail.

The Grand Jury on Wednesday returned true bills against him on charges of theft, improperly using a credit card and official misconduct.

He was given a $20,000 bond and is due in court July 28.

Also charged were former Neighborhood Services employees Mark Kleiner, Jennifer Maddox Center and Jeremiah McGill.

It was charged that Curry used city funds to buy diamond earrings from the Jerry Bogo Company for female acquaintances and used city funds to buy an exercise machine from Sam's Club for a female acquaintance.

It was charged that he paid city funds to Polis Studio to do private work for him and that over $10,000 in city funds went toward work on the Church of God of Prophecy on Chickamauga Loop.

It was charged that Curry double paid Kleiner.

It was charged that Ms. Center bought a 3M Industrial Cart and tools with city funds and that Curry and Ms. Center paid Jeremiah McGill for work never performed.

It says Ms. Center authorized purchases of over $10,000 of key chains and water bottles from Promotional Solutions. It says she was also employed there and took a 50% commission on each sale.

Mr. Curry served in the administration of Mayor Bob Corker after being hired and made an administrator by Mayor Jon Kinsey.

He left office soon after Mayor Ron Littlefield was elected. Mr. Curry supported another mayoral candidate, Ann Coulter.

Mr. Curry has started his own consulting firm.

He also did some work for the Chattanooga Housing Authority.

The Littlefield administration has hired a team of auditors that has closely been examining city operations in a number of departments.

Several former city employees have been charged.

Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
