By Order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, Charles Daniel Collins' license to practice law was temporarily suspended, pursuant to Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, upon a finding that Mr. Collins had failed to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility concerning a trust account overdraft and posed a threat of irreparable harm to the public.
The Chattanooga attorney may continue to represent existing clients for 30 days, it was stated.
Mr. Collins must cease representing all clients effective July 6 and may not accept new cases following that date. After July 6, Mr. Collins shall not use any indicia of lawyer, legal assistant, or law clerk, etc., nor maintain a presence where the practice of law is conducted, it was stated.
The order requires Mr. Collins to notify by registered or certified mail all clients being represented in pending matters, as well as co-counsel and opposing counsel, of the Supreme Court's Order suspending his law license. Section 18 of Supreme Court Rule 9 requires Mr. Collins to deliver to all clients any papers or property to which they are entitled.
Mr. Collins may for good cause request dissolution or modification by order of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
