Police Blotter: Attempted Robbery On Rossville Boulevard

Monday, July 24, 2006

James Newman said he was getting items from an outside freezer at 4190 Rossville Blvd. when he saw a black male running towards him.

He ran back inside the building and closed the door. The black male pointed a silver semi-automatic pistol at him through a window.

The man said, "Give me all the money."

Mr. Newman said he hit the holdup alarm as he entered the business and then he hid behind a counter. He said the robber fled on foot into an alleyway.

The robber was wearing a black mask (a dew rag with eye holes cut out). He was about 5'10" and 230 pounds.

Rashad Moore said two Bibles were among items stolen from his car after it was broken into at 408 Market St.

He said he returned to the vehicle and found the right front passenger window broken out.

In addition to the King James and devotional Bibles, he also lost a checkbook and 170 CDs.

Kimberly Sims said her car was broken into after she parked at 1100 Broad Street in the Union Square parking garage.

A backpack taken from the car was found in a stairwell. Missing from it were a $40 Ultimate Ninja game and a gray and purple Star Wars light saver.

Jason Standridge parked at Toys R Us at Hamilton Place and left the windows cracked.

He returned to find his $200 radio/CD player missing.

A woman said she returned to her home on Jefferson Street and found the water was not working.

An examination showed someone had gone into the crawl space underneath the house and stolen the copper pipes.
