Between The Bridges Wakeboard And Music Festival Is Aug. 12-13

Friday, July 28, 2006

The Between the Bridges Wakeboard and Music Festival is set for Aug. 12-13 at the 21st Century Waterfront.

Between the Bridges will introduce Chattanooga's 21st Century Waterfront to the wakeboarding community as one of the premier locales for pro and grassroots competitions, said officials. By utilizing the cities resources the festival aims to unite the boating community in Chattanooga for water sports; establishing a working relationship with the City of Chattanooga and local businesses; promote wakeboarding in the city; raise money for the Joseph Grubbs Fund; and provide a venue for local retailers to market their products.

In August of 2005, Joseph Grubbs passed away falling nearly 70 feet to his death. He was the bassist for "Up with the Joneses." After he passed away, the town wanted to pay tribute to him and thus the "Show for Joe" concert series began. The monies raised from the shows have gone into a memorial fund setup to benefit the people and families of greater Chattanooga.

The Joseph Grubbs Memorial Fund and Chattanooga Wakeboard Clinic have collaborated to bring an annual festival to Downtown Chattanooga in an effort to raise money for the Joseph Grubbs Memorial Fund. The Joseph Grubbs Memorial Fund is an endowment setup through the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga to build the assets of people and families in the greater Chattanooga area.

For two days the "no wake" zone will be broken in front of the 21st Century Waterfront.

The competition is open to all ages: Grom: male and female ages 14 and under; Women: all female ages 15 and up; Novice: all male ages 15 and up, no inverts or spins; Intermediate: males 15 and up, no more than three spins or inverts; Advanced: all male 15 and up, more than three inverts or spins; Outlaw: anything goes.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
