Johnny Houston, Mark Rothberger Win Municipal Judgeships

Thursday, August 03, 2006

Johnny Houston defeated incumbent Red Bank City Judge Gary Disheroon in Tuesday's election.

On Signal Mountain, Judge Mark Rothberger remained in office. He had a challenge from attorney Rob Philyaw.

Attorney Houston won by 150 votes.

He had waged an earlier race for Chattanooga City Court judge against Walter Williams.

Mr. Houston said, "I am very grateful to my family and friends and to the citizens of Red Bank who weathered the heat to vote for me. I am also grateful to Chief Larry Sneed, the Red Bank police officers, firemen, employees and elected officials who encouraged me to seek the position and who supported me.

"I am especially grateful to Judge Bob Moon and his mother, Chris, for their advice and encouragement. The business community was also very generous in allowing me to place signs in their windows and on their property.

"The city of Red Bank will be facing a number of challenges in the coming years and I am looking forward to being a part of the solution. I am looking forward to working hard to make those good judgments and positive changes for the betterment of the Red Bank community.

"I would also like to express my appreciation to Judge Disheroon for his years of service to the city of Red Bank."
