Benedict Winds Up With Narrow Win Over Terry Stulce

Monday, August 07, 2006

Brent Benedict wound up with a narrow election victory over Terry Stulce for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House, Third Ditrict.

It was 14,723 for Benedict and 14,023 for Stulce.

He will face Rep. Zach Wamp in the general election.

Mr. Benedict said, "On Aug. 3, Democrats in the 3rd Congressional District voted in the primary to elect a Democratic nominee for the 3rd Congressional District. I have examined the vote totals, and, based upon that examination, I am declaring victory in the primary election. I believe the vote totals are accurate, and I believe it is now time for Democrats in the 3rd Congressional District to unify and begin the work ahead of us to defeat Congressman Zach Wamp.

"I believe there are many important issues facing us as a country, and I believe that we must unify and began working together to change the direction of this country. Over the next few months I look forward to debating Congressman Zach Wamp on issues such as immigration, high fuel prices, the economy, and the future of our country. I am challenging Mr. Wamp to a series of debates to discuss issues facing us as a community and for our country.

"As of today, I am the Democratic nominee and I am seeking to be the next Congressman from the 3rd Congressional District."

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)

Notre Dame is moving on.   The Irish advanced Monday night when steady Steadman Ford drove a stake in the Chargers’ heart, draining a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left as No. 4 seed Notre Dame defeated fifth-seed Chattanooga Christian, 41-38, in District 7-AA tournament action in Phifer Gymnasium.   It was a thriller.   Notre Dame (10-14) ...
