One of the kudzu-eating goats that perished on the side of Missionary Ridge on Tuesday died of natural causes, city officials said Wednesday.
Michelle Michaud of the mayor's office said it was a very young goat who may have been weaned prematurely.
It had been feared the goat might have been attacked by a dog or coyote that got inside a fenced area.
Still, Ms. Michaud said two guard donkeys were being brought to the site today.
Officials said the donkeys will kick any critter that tries to go after the goats.
Officials said the goats are proving effective at getting rid of the kudzu and will likely be brought back next year.
