A home was destroyed by fire in the Middle Valley area Thursday morning.
The homeowner made a 911 call at 5 a.m. reporting heavy smoke and fire at 7357 McCormack Dr. in the Shannon Hills Subdivision.
Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded and arrived on the scene confirming a fully involved house fire. Since everyone was confirmed out of the house, Dallas Bay VFD immediately went to a “defensive attack” to keep the fire from spreading to the surrounding homes.
According to the homeowners, they started smelling something burning about 2:30 a.m. They checked the house and found nothing out of the ordinary. At 5 a.m., the couple awoke again to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the house and throughout the attic. They were able to escape the burning home along with their pets.
No injuries were reported. Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for potential injuries.
The house is a total loss and damages estimated at $175,000. The cause of the fire will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The homeowners reported the fire started on the back side of the house.
The homeowners did have insurance.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the young couple.
