Suicide Postvention Pilot Program Training Held Here

The SE Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network is hosting a pilot program aimed at responding to suicides in the southeastern Tennessee counties of Hamilton, Bradley, Polk, Meigs, McMinn, Rhea, Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Grundy, Marion.

Request for postvention services will be taken through Bernard & Associates, P.C. by calling (423) 322-3297 or emailing sambernard@comcast.net.

Both individual and group interventions will be available by both peer and mental health volunteers 24/7/365 once the team is staffed and trained. Service locations may be homes, schools, churches, business/industry, etc.

The next two required classes will also be held in Chattanooga at Notre Dame High School. They are Group Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention.

Group Crisis Intervention will be held at Notre Dame High School Feb. 26 and 27. All class dates and times must be attended to attain the certificate of participation – no exceptions. Classes will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. on the first day. Lunch will be provided.

Cost is $100, payable by cash or check, to “Bernard & Associates, P.C.”

The Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention classes will be held at Notre Dame High School March 5 and 6. All class dates and times must be attended to attain the certificate of participation – no exceptions. The classes will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on the first day. Lunch will be provided.

Cost is $100, payable by cash or check, to “Bernard & Associates, P.C.”

Interested participants may include friends/family members of someone who has died by suicide, interested community members and mental health professionals. Applications for team membership are now available and a screening process is being developed.

Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
