The Chattanooga & Hamilton County Medical Society, Medical Foundation, and Medical Alliance will host the 3rd Annual Denim & Diamonds Goes West Gala and Fundraiser to benefit Project Access and other community health initiatives on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Project Access is a physician-led program that coordinates free medical care and services for low-income Hamilton County residents who do not have insurance. Many of these people are employed by companies throughout Chattanooga, often working part-time so they are not eligible for employment-based health insurance. Project Access is a community health partnership between the Medical Society and Medical Foundation, with Erlanger, Memorial and Parkridge Hospital Systems, Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation, community health centers and several other organizations.

The evening will include food, line dancing and music provided by Gene Lovin, Texas hold-em and other funny money gaming, a mechanical bull, a quick draw competition, "Lock up for Laughs," and other surprises.

Planning committee members include Milli Yium, Brooke Ingle, Diane Parks, Jayme Upton, Melissa McConaty, Gene Lovin, Jan Headrick, Jayne Brzezienski, Chala Osborne, Jennifer Martin, Rae Bond, Wendy Porto, Lisa Roche, Pam Griffey, and Angie Gamble.

The event will be held at the Read House. Tickets are $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of eight. Tickets are available at any First Tennessee Financial Center in Hamilton County or call the Medical Society at (423) 622-2872.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
