2 Lost Hikers Are Found At Pocket Wilderness

Friday, January 05, 2007

Two hikers who became lost at the Pocket Wilderness on Montlake Road have been found, family members said Friday afternoon.

Earl Freudenberg of WDYN Radio said family members were advised that the pair got lost in the fog and spent the night in a cave.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office received a report Thursday night of the two missing young men.

Relatives of Jordan Linger, 21, and John Langley, 19, got concerned when the two did not return from hiking at that location, Lt. Ron Rice said.

Mr. Linger's wife last spoke to her husband at noon. He told her that the two were coming down from the top of the mountain, were going to stop at the falls to take pictures, then come home.

At 11:55 p.m., the wife called the sheriff's office to ask officers to check the area since the two had not yet returned home nor had they called.

The first officer on the scene found a car belonging to one of the hikers and notified his supervisor of the situation.

The decision was then made to contact STARS so a search for the two could begin.

The search was called off due to fog and dangerous conditions, but it resumed around daybreak.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
