No injuries were reported in connection with a house fire on W. 38th Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 1:41 p.m. and responded to 1815 W. 38th St. with four fire companies.
Captain Bruce Williford with Squad 4 said the front porch was fully engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. The flames had penetrated into the front living room before the firefighters could get the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.
The fire damage was contained to the front living room and the porch, though a dollar loss was not immediately available.
Fire investigators are looking into eyewitness accounts that some children were seen at the house when the fire was first discovered. For now, the cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
The house was home to a mother, her daughter and granddaughter. Volunteers with the American Red Cross were called in to provide recovery assistance to the victims.
