Baylor Outguns Pope John Paul II 28-20

Friday, October 26, 2007

Two goal line stands and two big plays by Riley Dyer helped the Baylor football team hold on for a 28-20 homecoming win over Pope John Paul II Friday night.

Pope John Paul II converted an onside kick and a muffed punt to touchdowns in the first half to jump out to a 13-7 halftime lead.

The Baylor defense stopped a first quarter Knight drive on the one yard line and Tyler Massey scored on a two-yard run to keep the Raiders in the game.

Baylor converted a Pope John Paul II fumble, recovered by Josh Ernest, to a TD with Massey hitting Michael Trundle on a 73-yard pass play to go up 14-13 with two minutes left in the third quarter.

Riley Dyer blocked a Knight punt and Caldwell Huckabay recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown giving Baylor a 21-13 lead with under a minute to play in the third stanza.

Dyer came up big again stopping a fake punt on the Pope John Paul II 37-yard line with 10 minutes left in the game. After Brett Murray held on to a Massey pass to convert a fourth-and-seven, Brandon Pickett took a screen pass 24 yards to give Baylor a 27-13 lead.

Tanner Taylor's fourth PAT of the night made it 28-13. The Knights drove 70+ yards for their final touchdown before the Raiders were able to run out the clock.

It was homecoming at Baylor and also senior night with 16 senior members of the team honored in a brief ceremony of the game. The Class of 2008 includes Riley Dyer, James, Feher, Wesley Idlette, Evan Joseph, Ki Keith, Tyler Massey, Alan Owsley, Cam Patton, Stephen Pickett, Sam Quave, Andrew Roden, Peter Serodino, Andy Shuford, Trey Trundle, Danny Van Valkinburgh, and MacGregor Wallis.

Randy Smith: Tim Daniels’ Big Shadow

Boy was I wrong!   He was a bit timid in that first interview I ... (click for more)

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
