A slogan started by a construction firm is spreading to other businesses in the suddenly-bustling Main Street district.
As part of its "ongoing efforts to promote neighborhood-minded, environmentally smart and profitable building in Chattanooga," Collier Construction helped to develop a marketing campaign for Chattanooga's Main Street revitalization.
"We Believe in Main Street," a billboard campaign begun by Collier Construction earlier this year, was developed by local design agency Widgets & Stone as a statement of the construction company's confidence in the area for the neighborhood.
Originally designed to promote renovation projects throughout the Main Street Creative District, the slogan has been adopted by Main Street entrepreneurs, residential developers and business owners "as a statement of their belief that an owner-led movement on Main Street has incredible potential for Chattanooga."
Businesses including Loose Cannon Gallery, Niedlovs Breadworks, The Pulse newspaper, Chattanooga Style magazine, internet design and marketing company Coptix and Alliea - the new Italian restaurant from the St Johns Hospitality Group that is slated to open in 2008 - have adopted the "We Believe in Main Street" slogan.
"The campaign comes at a good time," said Ethan Collier, owner of Collier Construction. "Just last weekend we saw more than 700 Chattanoogans showed up at MAINX24, to support and promote the businesses which are opening along Main Street. Not only do we believe in the revitalization that is happening all throughout the neighborhood, but we are glad to serve and promote the homeowners and business owners who are making it reality.
"At Collier Construction, our goal is to build homes and commercial properties of the highest quality, environmental sensitivity and durability."
