Rep. Eric Watson (Bradley) announced that the state will be returning some of the over-collected revenue to the people in the form of a sales tax holiday, to take place April 27-29. Consumers in Tennessee will be able to make tax-free purchases during this special one-time period. August 3-5, will mark the annual sales tax holiday as well.
Rep. Eric Watson applauded the state in its willingness to add an additional weekend to the sales tax holiday tradition, stating, “For years, the state has over-collected in taxes. It is time that we return some of this revenue to the hardworking people of Tennessee.”
The Department of Revenue provides detailed information online for retailers and consumers at www.tntaxholiday.com. On this website, retailers and consumers can access numerous materials created for the sales tax holiday, including a retailer’s guide, fact sheets on clothing, computers, and school supplies, and frequently asked questions.
