The Augusta R. Kolwyck Library at Chattanooga State Technical Community College will host the exhibit, “Anne Frank: A History for Today,” from March 21-April 20. This unique exhibit is on loan from The Anne Frank Center USA, New York. It consists of 33 panels of photographs and related media.

The exhibit tells the story of Anne Frank, while it “relates historical issues of racism, scapegoats, genocide, and ethnic cleansing to contemporary events.”
“Interspersed throughout the exhibit are accounts of eyewitnesses, allowing the viewer to examine the role of the individual concerning issues of exclusion and discrimination from the point of view of collaborators, perpetrators, resisters, and bystanders during the Nazi era.”
“The exhibit concludes by urging visitors to analyze their personal stand on human rights, democratic ideals, social justice, and the importance of personal responsibility, including the need to be proactive.” (The Anne Frank Center USA)
Visitors to the exhibit may also view the award-winning documentary, “Paper Clips,” the story of Whitwell Middle School’s Holocaust Memorial project. Additional videos depicting the story of Anne Frank will be available for viewing in the library. Related books and other materials will be displayed near the exhibit.
The public is invited to a special program commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day on Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. Dr. Jim Catanzaro, president of Chattanooga State, will set the context of the Holocaust. Sylvia Wygoda will discuss “In the Shadow of the Swastika,” a book about her father’s experiences and survival during World War II. After the program, attendees are invited to the library to view the exhibit.
