Wednesday, March 14, 2007

WTCI, the community's PBS station, will host its 11th Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brainerd Crossroads, located at the corner of Belvoir Road and North Terrace. The event’s activities underscore the mission of public broadcasting as a positive media force which educates children and families.

Kids of all ages and their families are invited to take part in the event and will be able to have their picture taken with a special guest from a popular PBS Kids program. For Family Fun Day, WTCI will welcome Cookie Monster (the walk-around character) from Sesame Street. He will be at Brainerd Crossroads to meet kids from the Tennessee Valley and have photos taken with them for keepsakes.

WTCI’s Family Fun Day will include various educational games and entertainment, as well as giveaways and fun learning activities. Activities will include:
·Make a collage of your name with cut-outs of pictures.
·Get your face painted and wear tattoos of your favorite Sesame Street characters
·Tour the Chattanooga Fire Department’s fire safety house
·Learn how to spell your name in Braille using breakfast cereal
·Play dancing games and learn fun physical exercises
·Act out classic children’s stories
·Get your photo taken with Walk-around Cookie Monster, Buzzly Bee, and Rocky the Elf from Rock City

A suggested $3 donation per person will be taken at the door. All money raised at Family Fun Day goes to benefit the children's programming offered by WTCI.
