Higgins, Craditt F. (Cohutta)

Craditt F. Higgins, 85, formerly of Cohutta, and Cleveland, Tn., died on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in a health care facility in Calhoun, Ga.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a master Mason and a 50-year member of Cohutta Lodge 64 at Cohutta, He was retired from Southern Railway. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Higgins was the son of the late Fred A. Higgins and Ethel Higgins and also was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lois Marie Higgins; a daughter, Beverly Higgins; and a son, Terry Higgins.

He is survived by his children, Betty Higgins, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Kenneth Higgins, of Cleveland, Tn., Brenda Kittle, of Rocky Face, Ga., and Tim Higgins, of Cleveland; one sister, Mary Ellen Berry; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

A Masonic service will be conducted following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Mount Carmel Cemetery Fund.

Benny "Fred" Teeters

Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
