Soddy-Daisy Man In Hit And Run Accident Monday, Body Found Tuesday

Chattanooga Police said a Soddy-Daisy man was in a hit and run accident in Alton Park on Monday and his body was found a couple of blocks away on Tuesday.

The body that was found at the Teppco Packing Company on E. 39th Street was identified as Roy D. Bidwell, 40, of Soddy Daisy.

Police said Mr. Bidwell was in a hit and run accident at 400 E. 37th St. on Monday around 8:30 a.m. Witnesses of the accident said they saw a 1985 blue Chevrolet Cavalier crash into to a pole. They saw the driver - identified as a white male with gray hair wearing a blue jacket - flee the scene on foot running south on Jerome Avenue.

Investigators have identified Mr. Bidwell as the driver of this vehicle.

Police were called to 1139 E. 39th Street Tuesday when a Teppco employee stated he was showing the building and found Mr. Bidwell deceased, lying against a wall.

The cause of death has not been determined at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
