The 2007 time capsule will be reinserted into the historic cornerstone at City Hall on Thursday at 10 a.m. The five hundred pound cornerstone will then be replaced in its original position.
“This will be an historic day for the City of Chattanooga. The information that we have placed in the new time capsule will hopefully give future residents and city officials a glimpse of life in Chattanooga in 2007,” said Mayor Ron Littlefield. “I’d like to thank my staff for all their hard work in gathering, documenting and reassembling a very thoughtful time capsule worthy of 100 years.
”
Once sealed, the 2007 time capsule will hold newspaper articles, brochures from area organizations, a letter from Mayor Littlefield, signed business cards from city officials and administrators, several data disks and DVD’s, various pieces of period money including a 1976 centennial $2 dollar bill, a new George Washington dollar coin, a new and old buffalo nickel, wheat penny, Tennessee quarter, and other items of importance to our current era.
