Lucy Mae Horton, 98, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Horton; six sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Burns; sons, John and Clarence Horton; grandchildren, Joyce Mayfield, Waukegan, Il.; Dorothy Wiley, Chattanooga; John Thomas Jr., Chattanooga; Vanessa and Francene Horton, Patterson, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Robert Wiley, Sheena Henderson, Shirley Cooke, Michael Henderson and Marvis Mayfield; nieces, Johnnie Mae Stalling, Louise Cooper of Rome, Ga.; Ann Hampton of Atlanta, Ga.; nephews, Ulysses Sullivan, Richmond Cooper of Chattanooga; Michael Cooper of Rome, Ga.; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at the McCallie Chapel with Rev. Oscar Lockhart officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7–8 on Sunday at the McCallie Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Directors.

A female student stabbed a male student twice at Lookout Valley Middle High School on Thursday morning. It happened in a middle school classroom.
