Former County School Board member Charles Love could take the witness stand in the upcoming federal bribery trial of Sen. Ward Crutchfield in Memphis.
Attorney Bryan Hoss confirmed that Love had been subpoenaed to testify in the Crutchfields trial.
He said the subpoena did not come from the prosecution, but was from Ward Crutchfield for Charles Love’s attendance.
Attorney Hoss said, "I was contacted by Sen. Crutchfield’s attorney and we agreed to accept a subpoena on Mr. Love’s behalf. Pursuant to that subpoena, Mr. Love will be present at the senator’s trial in Memphis.
"It remains to be seen if Mr. Love will testify. That decision is left up to the prosecutors and defense counsel.”
Both Love and Sen. Crutchfield were charged in the FBI's "Tennessee Waltz" sting.
Love pleaded guilty earlier, and he is still awaiting sentencing.
The Crutchfield trial is set to start July 16 and is expected to take two weeks.
