For the first time in the history of Chattanooga, the Young Professionals Association of Chattanooga (YPAC) will crown the young professional and business who have exemplified the key components of success for the 2006-2007 business year. On Sept. 29 the best of the best will be announced at YPAC’s first annual “YP of the Year Awards.”
“The YP of the Year Awards are a celebration of the past year and hard work young professionals and area businesses put into the greater Tennessee Valley,” said Omar Minhas, recruitment officer for YPAC. “Young professionals of Chattanooga are key to the future and growth of the city. We seek to build a bridge between the established and those who are taking their first steps into their career.”
Nominees for the Young Professional of the Year award are: Brad Denton of Integrated Networking Technologies; Lesley Scearce of Why Know Abstinence Foundation, Inc.; Vincent Phipps of Talk, Listen, Communicate; Amber Brown of Blood Assurance; Brandy Mayo of The Krystal Company; Shay Mayo of Fort Wood; Charlotte Smith of College Access Center; Renee Ford of Joseph Decosimo and Company; Scott Muller,M.D. of Memorial North Park Hospital; Derek Daniel of Joseph Decosimo and Company; and Kimberly Lawrence of Joseph Decosimo and Company. Each individual was nominated based upon community involvement and professional achievement.
A variety of Chattanooga companies are nominated for the YP-Friendly Business of the Year Award. The nominees are Joseph Decosimo and Company LLP,CPA; Tennessee Valley
Federal Credit Union; FastSigns; Ernst & Young LLP; Henderson Hutcheson & McCullough
PLLC; Waterhouse Public Relations; The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga and Soirees of Chattanooga. This award is based on the company’s community involvement and support of young professionals.
The award ceremony is set to take place at Pier 2 on the riverfront in downtown Chattanooga. A “Roaring 20’s” theme reflects YPAC’s formative years and celebrates Chattanooga’s history of initial growth. Non-member professionals and area business members are encouraged to take part in the festivities.
