Republican Oscar Brock is getting into the race to replace Ward Crutchfield as state senator for the 10th District.
Mr. Brock, standing with his father, former U.S. Sen. Bill Brock, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the upcoming special election.
The announcement was held in the Roosevelt Room at the Chattanooga Choo Choo immediately follow the Chattanooga Pachyderm Club luncheon.

He told the club members, "Ethical leadership is absolutely essential."
Mr. Brock noted that he was born seven weeks after his father was first elected to Congress. He said for his first nine years, the family spent seven months of the year at home and five months in Washington, D.C.
He said he has mainly been involved in real estate development, and had brief experiences with the restaurant business and the computer business.
He said he spent three years beginning in 1992 as director of public policy at the Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Brock is a former Jaycees president and he has been a senior warden at his church and board member at the Mental Health Association, Bethlehem Center and GPS. He is in the Rotary Club.
He and his wife, Meg Persinger, have two daughters, in the ninth and sixth grades.
