PrepChamps, D1 Sports Partner On Local High School Football Combine

Wednesday, January 23, 2008 - by special report to The Chattanoogan

D1 Sports will be offering a unique opportunity to high school juniors with PrepChamps high school football recruiting combine on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The combine will be held at the D1 Sports Training near Hamilton Place Mall on Commons Blvd.

The PrepChampshugely combines have featured some of the top high school football players from across the United States.

Registration goes from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then the high school juniors perform a variety of skill and agility drills up until 1 p.m.

The drills include pro-agility, L-drill (3-cone drill), 40-yard dash, vertical jump, bench press and the standing broad jump.

All the drills are videotaped to give college recruiters easy access to verified results. Around 1 p.m., players will begin running through skilled drills.

PrepChamps and D1 provide athletes the opportunity to showcase their talents and help them gain exposure during their college football recruiting process. In order to attract the top high school football players in the area, PrepChamps and D1 have made the combines entirely free for high school athletes to attend. The Combine is led by PrepChamps Director of Athletics Kevin Fitzgerald, a former strength and conditioning coach for college powerhouses like Notre Dame and Florida State University.

“We want to provide opportunities to athletes so that they can go as far as they possibly can. We’ve got the individuals needed to develop and run the combines and D1 now offers a tremendous place to host the event in Chattanooga,” said PrepChamps CEO Dean Bundschu.

D1 Sports and PrepChamps kicked off their exclusive partnership for this high school football offseason with a Nashville, Tenn. combine and a Huntsville, Ala. combine over the last two weeks. Athletes can register for these football combines for free by visiting PrepChamps’ website, www.prepchamps.com.

“PrepChamps is a great partner for D1 in helping athletes get recognized and recruited,” said D1 CEO and President Will Bartholomew. “At D1, we believe that PrepChamps puts on the best prep combines in the nation. They do a great job at giving individual attention to the athletes to increase their exposure so that they ultimately have a better chance at an athletic scholarship.”
