Lee University will host the Washington Saxophone Quartet in the 2008-2009 Squires Recital Series. The concert will be Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Squires Recital Hall located on Parker Street.

Review for the Washington Saxophone Quartet:
Since 1997, many of the Quartet's arrangements have aired daily throughout the United States on National Public Radio.

During more than a quarter century of giving recitals, informal concerts, and master classes in the United States, the Caribbean, and China, the Quartet has become a group that draws on a rich repertoire and wealth of experience to reach listeners of every age and background. The members have performed thousands of concerts in schools throughout the United States, giving them a special insight into programs for young people. A highlight and honor for the group was being chosen to perform for the 1997 Presidential Inauguration.

Seasoned music lovers, newcomers to chamber music, and students alike appreciate the group's musicality coupled with its warm, engaging performance style. In 1996, the quartet celebrated its twentieth year with the release of a CD, "To China and Bach," which highlights music from the 1995 China tour. The latest recording, "Daydream" features romantic favorites. The group is endorsed by the Vandoren Corporation and records on the Americus label.

This concert is free and open to the public, though seating is limited. To reserve tickets call the Lee University box office at 614-8343.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
