Rep. Eric Watson announced his annual "Singing in the Park" will be on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. in downtown Cleveland at Johnston Park. This year's lineup includes the award-winning Kingsmen quartet, Tennessee Harmony, Mallory Ledford, and Dave Raby.

If there's one group whose name inspires thoughts of pure, passionate, solid and true music, it's The Kingsmen. They've encouraged and uplifted listeners with their unique style since the conception of the group in 1956. With countless records and compilations sold, Grammy nominations, four Dove Awards and an induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2000, this certainly solidifies The Kingsmen as gospel music's most predominate quartet.

"The Kingsmen are excited to get back to Cleveland and see our old friends" said Ray Dean Reese, Kingsmen manager and bass singer. "We'll be singing a lot of old favorites and as well as our new hits."

There are not too many groups today who can boast the kind of far-reaching legacy that comes with a 52-year career as one of gospel music's most influential artists. The Kingsmen emerged in the 1950's with their own distinct style, unleashing music that would solidify them as pioneers in the southern gospel music field. They continue to carry the legacy on today.

Over the last several years, Miss Mallory Ledford has developed into a phenomenal instrument of God. At ten years old, Mallory attributes her style and direction to Sandi Patty, Karen Peck Gooch, and Charlotte Church. She currently has a recording with several songs that features her dynamic vocal range, control, and confidence. She continues to stun her audiences, appeal to crowds of all ages, and has a astonishing talent

Tennessee Harmony is no stranger to Cleveland, the group has been honored with nine top 80 songs. Currently, they have two singles on the charts "Jesus What A Savior" is at # 67 for the month of September the current single "Love One Another" is # 17 across the nation on the top 100 charts for October. They were recently named Gospel Music Tour's "Quartet of the Year" for 2008. The heart of Tennessee Harmony is to sing with inspiration, share with compassion, and be examples of true witnesses for Christ.

J. Bazill Mulls, DJ of the Year "Dave Raby," will also perform on the stage singing songs like "We Want America Back," "I Can Only Imagine," and "Praise Him."

Thoughs On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
