Fall Rowing Ends For Chattanooga Crews

Chattanooga Junior Rowing earned the award for best performance as they completed their fall season at the 12th annual Head of the South Regatta in Augusta, GA, on Saturday. Much like the regattas held in Chattanooga, the 5,000 meter race course is on a river that runs through downtown Augusta. The regatta wins capped a memorable fall season for CJR.

There were 24 schools and clubs with high school age competitors who came from throughout the Southeast. In earning the top position CJR outperformed larger programs such as St. Andrew Rowing Club, Stanton College Prep, and The Bolles School.

CJR rowers won 4 of the 5 races for boats with crews of four rowers and coxswain. They also won or placed second in all but two of the races for sculling boats.

In addition they also earned medals in the Men’s Varsity eight and Novice Men’s eight.

Gold medal performances were Men’s Varsity 4A (Eric DelValle, Chris DeBarge, Zach Boyette, Aaron Harstine, Danielle Anderson), Men’s Quad (Konstantine Vlasis, Frankie Green, Parker Stoker, Clay Hall), Women’s Varsity 4 (Mary-Hannah Daugherty, Hannah White, Peyton Aaron, Joanna Poinsatte, Nina Worsham), Women’s Quad (Peyton Aaron, Danielle Burt, Joanna Poinsatte, Hannah White), Women’s Novice Four (Tanner Peterson, Lindsey McGirl, Raegan Johnson, Gentry Whittaker, Lynna Nguyen) and Varsity Mixed 4( Tony Schmidt, Emilio Craddock, Maegann Koenig, Danielle Burt, Nina Worsham).

Silver medal performances were Men’s Varsity eight (Chris DeBarge, Frankie Green, Zach Boyette, David Hall, Eric DelValle, Clay Hall, Parker Stoker, Aaron Harstine, Danielle Anderson), Men’s Lightweight Single (Konstantine Vlasis), Men’s Single (David Hall), Men’s Novice Single (Parker Stoker), Women’s Lightweight Single (Ruairi Hutchison), Men’s Double Sculls(Konstantine Vlasis, David Hall).

Bronze medal performers were the Men’s Novice eight (Taylor Jordan, Conor Delaney, Kaleb Bledsoe, Garrett Sexton, A. J. Avitabile, Patrick Wagner, David Hunter, Raja Moughrabi, Dakota Dunn).

Contributing points to the performance award were fourth place by Men’s Varsity 4 B (Taylor Jordan, Conor Delaney, Tony Schmidt, Emilio Craddock, Neha Doshi) and Women’s Double (Maegann Koenig, Rachel Denham),fifth place by Women’s Single (Mary-Hannah Daugherty), and Women’s Novice eight (Meghan Melia, Courtney Melia, Ali McGregor, Hayley Sawyer, Ariel Chamberlin, Sarah Hart, Hannah Knight, Anna Youngblood, Lynna Nguyen).


German Leads Lee Women To 72-60 Win Over Branau

Sophomore Hollie German led three Lady Flames in double-figures with 21 points, as the Lee University Lady Flames won their 17th consecutive contest, a 72-60 decision at Brenau University.
