Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Miller & Martin was awarded the corporate leadership award by the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga at its breakfast meeting on Tuesday, celebrating Equal Opportunity Day.

The corporate leadership award is presented each year to a company that has made a demonstrated commitment to strengthening diversity practices while enhancing the quality of life for the total community.

The firm was recognized for its proactive efforts in the development and implementation of a comprehensive diversity policy and its employment practices inclusive of racial, ethnic and gender representation. In addition, the firm was recognized for the fact that diversity is reflected at the governance level.

Firm Chairman Howard Levine accepted the award on behalf of the firm. He said, "Diversity is a core value at Miller & Martin. It is simply the right thing to do. I am very proud of what our firm has done and for it to have received this award.

"I cannot imagine a more significant, meaningful award for a law firm such as ours to receive. It truly reflects the mindset of a great number of our lawyers who have worked hard to put Miller & Martin in the forefront with our diversity efforts."

He went on to say, "The firm has formally adopted diversity initiatives calling for it to become the most diverse large law firm in the southeast, and this award certainly shows that we are making progress towards that goal."
