Former Hamilton County Supt. Dr. Jesse Register is one of three finalists for school director in Nashville, the Nashville Tennessean reported.
He is contending against Doris McEwen, a professor of P-12 education at the University of Washington in Seattle, and Santiago Wood, an independent educational consultant for Santillana USA Publishing and other companies.
Dr. Register, who built a new home in Sequatchie County, has been working as a consultant since leaving the county schools. He is also a senior adviser to the Annenberg Institute at Brown University and associate professor at UTC.
The final decision will be made by the Nashville School Board.
Cconsultant William Attea, who was involved in the search process that led to the Register replacement - Dr. Jim Scales - is handling the Nashville search.
Dr. Register retired from the county schools in June 2006. He was given a controversial $150,000 consultant pay package upon his retirement.
