Con Nooga Announces Guests For 2009

Chase Masterson, Lloyd Kaufman, Larry Elmore, Linda Blair, Samantha Newark, ROBOTECH, Radio Cult, Daniel Taylor, Sean Taylor, Shane Berryhill, and many more artists, authors, celebrities, producers and publishers will be ascending upon the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel and Convention Center Feb. 20–22, 2009, at the second annual Con Nooga Multi-Fandom Convention.

Con Nooga is a multi-fandom convention sponsored by GAMESTOP, DICEHEAD GAMES and FEAR CONNECTION with many supporting sponsors including Rock City, Ruby Falls, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Holiday Bowl, and many smaller supporters.

Organizers said this is a convention for anyone who enjoys Anime, Gaming, Console Gaming, Science Fiction, Horror, Films, Comics, Paranormal, Celebrities, Bands, Creative Writing, Children's Activities, Contests, Seminars, Workshops and so much more.

"From our 15,000-square foot exhibitor hall with over 20 dealers, 50+ special guests/celebrities– there's bound to be something for everyone," it was stated.

Chase Masterson is not only known for her roles in movies and TV (Star Trek, ROBOTECH, General Hospital, and many more) but she is also a Jazz singer and will be performing live on stage during Con Nooga, bringing her jazz and cabaret to the stage.

Samantha Newark, known as the voice of Jem (of the smash cartoon hit "Jem and the Holograms"), her music has also been heard on Smallville," "Reba," the CW's "Gossip Girl" and "Life Is Wild," MTV's "Laguna Beach," "Punked" and "My Super Sweet Sixteen."

She has also sung on the much-anticipated James Bond video game and has lent her vocals to Sony's huge hits "God of War," "Twisted Metal Black" and "Wild Arms 3." She will also be appearing at Con Nooga as a guest and singing on stage during the event.

Radio Cult is another performance not to miss. Based out of Atlanta, Radio Cult are here to rock out 80's style. From Madonna to Van Halen, Nena to Guns N Roses, Joan Jett to Devo, Billy Idol to The B-52's, Def Leppard to The Ramones, Blondie to Ozzy, The Cars to Metallica, Bon Jovi.

ROBOTECH - Kevin McKeever (marketing director/operation coordinator for Harmony Gold) will be bringing news from the ROBOTECH series and presenting numerous workshops and seminars during the convention.

Lloyd Kaufman, along with Yale friend and partner Michael Herz, has built Troma Studios up from a young company struggling to find its voice in a field crowded with competitors to legendary status as a lone survivor, a bastion of true independence, and the world's greatest concentration of camp.

Among Troma Entertainment's library of over 1,000 movies (including the legendary cult favorite "The Toxic Avenger") are the early performances of such stars as Kevin Costner, Billy Bob Thornton, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert DeNiro, Dennis Hopper, Dustin Hoffman, Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) and countless others. As a filmmaker, Lloyd Kaufman has accumulated a remarkable list of credits, as well as a more extraordinary list of debits to loan sharks and pawn shops.

Linda Blair is known best for her role as Regan in "The Exorcist." Ms. Blair has also appeared in numerous commercials, movies and television shows over the years. Beyond the screen, she has won numerous awards for her work as an animal rights activist from organizations such as P.E.T.A. and she also lends her name to helping stop animal abuse all over the world, including being the Founder of "The Linda Blair World Heart Foundation," which advocates the rescue and adoption of animals. She has also written a book "Going Vegan!"

Larry Elmore has been creating fantasy and science fiction art for over 20 years. He worked as a staff artist for TSR, Inc. from 1981 to 1987. While at TSR, he helped set the standards of gaming art in the role-playing genre. Besides creating covers for Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D and other gaming books, he may be best known for his work with the world of Dragonlance.

Shane Berryhill, a Chattanooga native who is "faster than a not-so-speeding tortoise! More powerful than a five-year-old girl with the flu! Able to leap tall speed bumps in a single bound! Look, there at the computer! It's an illustrator! It's a writer! It's Shane!"

Shane Berryhill is a writer, illustrator, and all around Imagineer. His first book, Chance Fortune and the Outlaws, is an official selection of Renaissance Learning's Accelerated Reader Program, the New York Public Library's Books for the Teen Age, and the Texas Lone Star Reading List.

Sean Taylor is a full-time writer of prose, graphic novels and comic books. He's the writer of Gene Simmons Dominatrix by Simmons Comics Group published by IDW Publishing and has also written for Gene Simmons House of Horrors, also published by IDW. He's also currently writing the upcoming fantasy graphic novel Shan: Be My Hero for VLE Comics, the upcoming miniseries Last Chance School for Girls and Jesse James in the Mayan Underworld for Arcana Comics, and the ongoing title The Veil for Rogue Wolf Entertainment.

Daniel Taylor is an actor (The Return Of Swamp Thing, Road Trip, Hell-ephone), and writer (Readjusting Windows, Three Young Girls).

Signs Vandalized At Cummings Cove As Battle With OHV Owners Continues

Two large advertising signs at the Cummings Cove development in Lookout Valley were vandalized Friday. One sign was spray painted with an expletive and another had the word "Aetna" in large letters.  There has been a long-running dispute between owners of Cummings Cove and those who enjoy going up the old Aetna Mountain Road to ride off-highway vehicles. Larry Grohn, Richard Floyd and Basil Marceaux are the latest to pick up for state House races. Mr. Grohn picked up papers for House District 30, a seat now held by Vince Dean of East Ridge. Rep. Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
