A resident made it out of a burning house in East Ridge early Saturday morning.
East Ridge Fire/Rescue responded to 3818 Altamira Dr. at 4:18 a.m. on a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and fire emitting from the residence. Initial reports were that the structure may be occupied.
Firefighters quickly worked to establish an interior attack of the fire. A search of the residence was performed at which time it was determined the resident had made it out safely.
East Ridge Fire/Arson investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Damage has been estimated at $60,000.
Units responding included East Ridge Quint 1, Engine 1, Engine 2, Squad 2, Rescue 2, Support 1, and Rescue 1. Rossville Engine 3 and Fort Oglethorpe Engine 1 and Memorial EMS also responded to a request for mutual aid.
