Sykes, Lucile "Nana" Robbins (Cleveland)

Lucile "Nana" Robbins Sykes, 101, of Cleveland, Tn., peacefully died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, in a local health care facility.

She was born in Paris, Tn., on Dec. 16, 1906, a daughter of the late John and Lola Robbins, but lived in this area since 1942.

Her joy of life was happily expressed through her delightful sense of humor. Though sadly missed, memories of her sunny smile and radiant love will be cherished forever.

A devout Christian and faithful member of Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cleveland, she dearly loved her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roy L. Sykes; son, Garlon Sykes; granddaughter, Wynene Preston; grandson, Eugene Sykes; sisters, Gladys Bowles and Blanche Wimberley; brothers, Edgar Robbins and Lelon Robbins.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lourene and Winton Preston, of Ooltewah; daughter-in-law, Elgiva M. Sykes, of Candler, N.C.; grandson and wife, Gary and Judy Sykes, of Asheville, N.C.; three great-grandchildren and spouses, Brook and Jessica Preston, of Chattanooga, Heather and Brad Colburn, of Inman, S.C., and Jennifer and Randy Hannah, of Candler, N.C.; three great-great-grandchildren Macey and Garrett Hannah, and Tyler Colburn; sister, Eunice (Dave) Steele, of Paris, Tenn.; brother, Clint (Ruth) Robbins, of Paris, Tn.; special nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, Collegedale, and Life Care Center of Collegedale for their loving care of our precious "Nana," and to all those who showered her with expressions of love.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwight Herod officiating.

A private family burial service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland where she will be buried beside her beloved husband.
