UTC Men's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight Match

The UTC men's tennis team recorded its seventh consecutive victory Sunday with a 6-1 win over instate rival Austin Peay State.

The match was played indoors at the Hixson Racquet Club.

The Mocs, 8-1, swept all three doubles matches and claimed five of six singles matches for the win.

In the doubles portion of the competition, Chattanooga picked up wins of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-6. Freshman Gordon Rudell made his collegiate debut, playing No. 3 doubles with fellow freshman Hasan Hamadeh.

Austin Peay's lone team point came with a victory at No. 4 singles. Leandro Tolosa-Zenklusen claimed a three-set win over Rick van de Bovenkamp, 7-5, 4-6, 10-4.

The Mocs took care of business in the remaining singles matches.

UTC senior Badr Bouabdellah was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Lucas De Brito at No. 1 singles, and fellow senior Razvan Axente defeated Leonardo Locatelli, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2.

The bottom four spots in the lineup moved up a notch as junior Peter Sauska was given a day off. Junior Pavel Vostrikov recorded a 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 win over Patrick Puertolas at No. 3, freshman Robert Diamond dispatched Jay Wilkinson, 6-1, 7-6 at No. 5, and Hamadeh defeated Francisco La Puento at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3.

The Mocs are back in action on the road Wednesday at Jacksonville State.

Creech Dominant As Ooltewah Defeats Cleveland

$750,000 Settlement Reached In Case In Which Bicyclist Was Hit By Tahoe

A $750,000 settlement has been reached in Hamilton County Circuit Court in a case in which a bicyclist was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe and seriously injured.
