Family Makes It Out Of Burning House At East Ridge

Sunday, March 23, 2008

A family made it out of a burning house in East Ridge late Saturday night.

At 10:08 p.m., East Ridge Fire Rescue and East Ridge Police responded to 1021 Lansdell Road on a residential house fire. Crews arrived on the scene within five minutes to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the house.

The occupants of the home told firefighters that everyone had made it out of the house safely. However, several animals were still inside.

Firefighters began an interior attack of the blaze. Firefighters found a cat near the front door. Crews took the cat out of the house and administered oxygen reviving the cat. The cat was taken to the emergency animal hospital for further evaluation. Three other cats perished in the fire.

Firefighters were able to save the $140,000 house. The fire was contained to the garage and contents which had been converted to a den. Damage is estimated at $30,000.

The cause and origin are still under investigation by East Ridge arson and fire investigators.

East Ridge Squad 1, Engine 2, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Support 1, Support 2, and Lifeguard EMS responded to the fire. Fort Oglethorpe Engine 10 also responded on automatic aid.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
