Daryl Thompson proved up to the challenge in his first two Double-A starts, allowing just five hits and striking out 13 batters in 12 innings.
On the night the Montgomery Biscuits received their 2007 championship rings, Thompson gave the Lookouts something to celebrate, too. He allowed just an unearned run and three hits and struck out five Biscuits
in a 4-1 win on April 3. It was his sixth consecutive win dating to last season.
Thompson was even more dominant in Chattanooga’s home opener five days later. The 22-year-old native of La Plata, MD allowed just two hits and struck out eight batters in six scoreless innings of an eventual 6-5 loss to Birmingham.
Acquired in the eight-player trade that sent former Lookout Austin Kearns to the Washington Nationals in 2006, Thompson led the Cincinnati Reds organization with 14 wins in 2007.
