Should traffic back up after 3 p.m., the contractor will move out of the way and allow traffic to flow freely. The affected section of Lee Highway includes the area from Mountain View/Hunter Road/Snow Hill Road to past the I-75 North entrance ramp. One lane will be maintained at all times. The contractor has now completely removed the bridge over Wolftever Creek on Old Lee Highway. Old Lee Highway will remain closed until the new bridge and approaches are complete, which is now scheduled to take place by mid-June 2008. Access to all businesses in the area will be maintained. Detours are posted. The rest area located at the end of the project on I-75 South is now closed and will remain closed for the duration of the project. The right turn lane (southbound) on Lee Highway at the SunTrust Bank corner is closed in accordance with traffic control plan phase 1 for widening, structure placement and curb installation. The lane will be blocked off with portable barrier rail for the duration of this phase. Traffic shifts will be set in place in order to route traffic around construction activity. Please be advised and take caution when traveling through this area. Motorists are also cautioned to observe the 35-m.p.h. speed limit throughout the construction zone. Due to constant speeding in this area, both state troopers and local police have increased enforcement. Thoughs On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ...
