The Tennessee Supreme Court has issued an order denying Terri Crawford's petition to rehear the application for permission to appeal to the Tennessee Supreme Court in the Tri-State Crematory case.
Stuart James, attorney for the Marsh family that operated the crematory at Noble, Ga., said, "Consequently, pursuant to the Court of Appeals opinion, Terri Crawford's case has come to an end in the state of
Tennessee.
"The Tennessee Supreme Court issued its order and has issued a mandate to the trial court bringing the appeal process to a conclusion."
Attorney James said, "On behalf of the Marsh family, I am glad to see this chapter of this litigation close. I respect Miss Crawford for bringing her claim in the court system. Miss Crawford had her day in court and exhausted all of her legal remedies. This is a significant end to protracted litigation.
"We believe that the court system fairly heard Terri Crawford's claim, and issued an opinion in accordance with the law. We believe that the justice system worked, and that everyone had their day in court."
The body of Ms. Crawford's brother was among those taken to the crematory, where several hundred uncremated bodies were found.
