Quick work by Chattanooga firefighters saved a Valleybrook townhouse on Sunday afternoon.
The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 12:23 p.m. and responded to 1353 Village Green Dr. with four fire companies.
Battalion Chief Bob Dixon said the firefighters did an excellent job of containing the fire to the kitchen and saving the rest of the townhouse. No injuries were reported.
The loss was estimated at around $30,000.
The family was away at church at the time of the fire. Chief Dixon said the cause of the fire would be listed as accidental, most likely from a match that was not completely extinguished when it was discarded into the kitchen garbage can.
