K-9 Helps Nab Burglars After Attempted Copper Heist

Friday, May 09, 2008

A K-9 sprang into action to help city police nab two burglars who were caught in the act at 310 Corporate Place.

Officers noticed a hole in the south side of the building.

They then spotted a large pile of copper just outside the building.

The burglars exited the hole, then ran back in when they spotted police.

The K-9 unit was then brought in to help. After an extensive search, Mickey and Andrew Morgan were taken into custody.

Mickey Morgan was found hidden on an office roof.

Andrew Morgan was corralled after he had been bitten by the K-9. He was treated on the scene by a medic, then was taken to Memorial Hospital for further care for the dog bite.

Owner Mike Higdon said the pile of copper was worth $15,000 to $20,000.

He said there was $500 in damage to the building.

At the jail, Mickey Morgan said the burglary had been set up by a former employee of the firm. He said the man was driving a blue 1995 Chevrolet truck, but left just before police arrived.

The Morgans were charged with theft over $10,000 and vandalism.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
