St. Jude Dream Home House Opens For Final Free Tours

Monday, June 16, 2008

In an effort to sell the remaining 2,500 tickets, organizers have decided to open the St. Jude Dream Home house for one final week of free tours.

The spacious home built by ChattanoogaNewHomes.com in the McKenzie Farm community is valued at approximately $300,000.

It will be open to the public from 9 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday, June 16 through Saturday, June 21.

Everyone who visits the house not only has the opportunity to reserve a $100 ticket to win the Dream Home house, but also to register free for a chance to win $5,000 worth of furniture from Walker’s Oak & More Furniture, Inc, and to register free to win a Caribbean cruise, courtesy of JBR Travel.

Officials said, "With 15 additional prizes to give away, odds of winning are amazing! One in every 500 entrants will win a prize, all valued at $1,000 or more. Some of this year’s secondary prizes include a 2008 Ford SES Sedan with a voice activated Sync system, a $1,000 gift certificate to Holcomb Garden Center, a $1,000 Home Depot gift card courtesy of Jody Millard Pest Control, a $1,000 prize package courtesy of Nooga.com advertisers, and many more!"

This year’s grand prize, the Dream Home house, is valued at approximately $300,000 and features four bedrooms, two and one-half baths, a pantry stocked by BI-LO, a media room with surround sound from Best Buy, and a large covered deck and screen porch with mountain views.

Construction of the St. Jude Dream Home house is coordinated by ChattanoogaNewHomes.com with the support of local and national contractors and suppliers including Dale’s Heating & Air, Shaw, USA Ready Mix, Premier Lighting, ProBuild, General Shale Brick, and ChooChoo Materials.

“By all accounts, ChattanoogaNewHomes.com, along with their suppliers and subcontractors, has gone above and beyond our expectations in building this year’s home. The open floor plan, top-of-the-line materials, and attention to detail make this house a true dream home,” said Beth White, mother of St. Jude patient Jack White and co-chair of the campaign. "If you have not come out to see this home, you must visit this week.”

Winners of the house and other prizes will be drawn live this Sunday, at 1 p.m. on WRCB Channel 3. Tune into US-101 for more details.

For directions to the home, to reserve your ticket(s) or for additional information, call 800 750-6962 or visit www.stjudedreamhome.org.

Tickets are also available at any InTrust Federal Credit Union through Thursday.

Thoughs On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
