A lost hiker was rescued thanks to a cell phone signal today.
Jeremy Rogers, 23, of Soddy Daisy headed into the woods on Bakewell Mountain yesterday with friends riding 4-wheelers. Rogers decided he wanted to spend the night in the woods and stayed in the woods alone.
This morning as he was hiking by out he became lost.
He called 9-1-1 around 10:30 this morning to say he was lost. Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue and Special Tastics and Rescue Services responded to Retro-Hughes Road.
Rogers could make calls however the service apparently wasn't good enough for him to receive calls. However using the cell phone signal, the 9-1-1 dispatch center was able to retrieve a GPS position of Rogers.
At one point dispatchers were heard saying "He keeps moving. If he calls back tell him to stop moving."
Rogers was found unharmed at 2:35 this afternoon.
