Additional work at Chattanooga's Enterprise South industrial park was approved by the City Council on Tuesday as the city/county continue to try to land a Volkswagen plant here.
Steve Leach, city public works administrator, said work will start in August on linking a new Interstate 75 freeway interchange to the industrial park.
He said it will involve constructing a road over a ridge from the interchange to Enterprise South Boulevard.
The megasite where local officials would like to place an automotive plant is to the east of Enterprise South Boulevard.
The contract that was approved was $150,000 to Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon for work on the project, including sewer improvements.
Chattanooga and Huntsville, Ala., are considered finalists for the $1 billion plant.
The announcement is expected in July.
