Lone Oak Quilt Show Has Winners

In the vote of those attending the show, the viewers' choice for a quilt went to Pauline Warren for her appliqued quilt and to Pauline Geary for her crazy quilt top. Chuck Dodds of Signal Mountain was the lucky winner of the drawing for the quilt made by the Lone Oak Senior Quilters.

In the show, there were 119 judged quilts and 15 quilt tops which were shown but not judged.. The judge's choice for the quilt tops were Allison Johnson, Mayrelou Stamps, Dot Nichols and Helen Cooper.

Quilt judge choices, first, second and third, were:

Machine quilted, Mayrelou Stamps, Alma Henderson and Joel Bullock; hand quilted, machine pieced quilts, Allison Johnson, Mayrelou Stamps, John Ann Simmons, Helen Gass, honorable mention; miscellaneous, Mayrelou Stamps, all three; pillows, Joel Bullock, first and second; whole cloth quilt, Dori Brown, first and second, Helen Gass; embroidered quilt, Dori Brown, first and third, Alma Henderson, second; appliqued quilt, machine, Pauline Warren, hand quilted, Allison Johnson; small quilts, Joel Bullock, Allison Johnson, Alma Henderson.

Over $600 was raised from admission charges and chances for the Stars All Around quilt made by the Senior Quilters. This will be divided between the Lone Oak Community Center and the Lone Oak Fire Department.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

An Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Lee Hardnett, 50. showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in at 8:40 p.m. He said his wife's body could be found at his place of employment, Power Supply Company, 1907 Daisy St.   Officers responded to that address and found the body of 34-year-old Elizabeth ... Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups

A leak of anhydrous ammonia at BASF Corporation on Amnicola Highway forced the closure of main thoroughfares Tuesday morning, causing major problems for rush-hour traffic heading into Chattanooga.  The incident began around 4:30 a.m. at the plant when a small fire broke out at an anhydrous ammonia pump. Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
