The Gallery in Red Bank next month will be featuring a collection of cast aluminum, cast iron and carved wood sculptures created by Gerard Masse, entitled “Responding to Life”.
His work has been exhibited internationally and is currently part of an exhibition in London, England.
Mr. Masse is the founder of Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum located in the rolling hills of Solsberry, Ind.
He was recently at The Gallery for the opening of his exhibition and presented aluminum pours throughout the day. Customers could purchase a blank scratch block and carve their own designs. The blocks were then lined up, 15 at a time, and the melted, hot (1400º) aluminum is poured and tickled into the block.
After cooling for approximately 20 minutes (blocks are put into water to aid in the cooling). It is then cut and trimmed to smooth any rough edges, etc. You then have your very own cast aluminum block for your garden, walkway, or wherever you want.
