While the air pollution board has successfully avoided non attainment status for the benefit of business, there is a very high incidence of asthma among children and lung disease. Children's health should be comprised for the benefit of anyone, and I want clean air to breathe, clean water to drink.
Contrary to popular belief most children do not outgrow asthma and it seems to be extremely high in this area. Lung disease is occurring among non smokers at very high rates as well.
I understand that we have challenges with temperature inversions from our terrain, but critical levels of fine particulates cannot be good for our health. The codes system last Friday was code orange, whatever the source is increase filtering or whatever it takes. For children with asthma and elderly people not going outside is the only option when orange air pollution days occur.
For an area known as the scenic city and for recreation, it is not safe to breathe the outside air on many days.
