Lady Mocs Volleyball To Open Season With Lady Vols

Friday, August 29, 2008

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Lady Mocs volleyball team will kickoff the 2008 season in the Great Midwest, with a trip to Milwaukee, to play the Tennessee Lady Vols in the Marquette Kickoff Tournament.

The two day tournament will feature teams very unfamiliar to UTC, as the Lady Mocs will also take on host-school Marquette, and Houston. Of the three teams, Tennessee is the only one the Lady Mocs have faced before, with the Lady Vols going 5-0 in those matches.

Chattanooga will open up their season on Friday, August 29 when they take on Tennessee at 5:30 p.m. EDT. The Lady Vols enter the season coming off an 11-18 campaign but return 10 players from last year's roster, including five of six starters, and the club’s record setting libero.

On Saturday, UTC will play two games, with the first one against Marquette at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The Golden Eagles ended 2007 at 10-16 and will return two starters from last season.

In game two, the Lady Mocs will take on Conference USA foe Houston at 5:30 p.m. EDT. In 2007, the Cougars went 13-15, and coming into 2008, will return four starters to the floor.

Following this weekend's tournament, Chattanooga will be back in action for their home opener when they host the Country Inn & Suites Challenge on Sept. 5-6. The Lady Mocs will open up the tournament against Alabama A&M on Friday and will play South Alabama and Central Michigan on Saturday.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
